New Years Eve

A fun family day today. We got an early start at our favorite breakfast spot this morning. It's in Lewisville and it's called Wecks. Absolutely wonderful!

Then we headed over to the Gaylord Texan to see Ice! The theme this year is Grinch. They gave us big Parkas and ushered us through multiple rooms to see scenes from the original Grinch cartoon perfectly recreated in ice sculptures. It was a balmy 9 degrees and it took about 30 minutes to go through the exhibit. The kids even got to slide down big slides made from ice! The entire hotel was decorated for Christmas. It was all so beautiful.

We spent the afternoon shopping for outfits for tonight and looking at houses we can't afford ( one of our favorite activities). Tonight's party is a pimp and ho theme. Danny is wearing a velour sweatsuit, a kangol hat, white adidas shoes and some gaudy chains. He's going for the jersey boy pimp look. I'm wearing my dark jeans, cowboy boots, and a cute top. I'm going as a regular person. It's not that I'm a party popper and not into the theme. I just honestly couldn't picture myself wearing anything that would make me fit the theme and be comfortable in it...

I have a sleepover hangover!

The sleepover went pretty well last night. The girls got along well. That means no crying, but lots of squealing and screaming. Reese tried to join the party, but ended up being the quintessential annoying little sister. I put her to bed and she woke up at midnight to go potty and begging to rejoin the big girls. Her begging entailed her just crying "I Promise!" over and over again. I ended up caving and allowing her to bring her pillow and blanket and sleep on the floor with the big girls. They were all already asleep, but that didn't matter to her. She was participating.

We ordered a pizza for the girls to have for dinner. It was snowing pretty hard outside, so we knew the pizza places were going to be busy. Danny went to the Papa John's website at 4:15 to place a future order (he wanted to set the pizza to be delivered at 6pm). The website wasn't working, so I called in the order. The guy taking the order told me that they were swamped and that the order would take at least an hour and a half. I looked at the clock and realized that it was now 4:30 and we should receive the pizza at 6 just like we wanted. We were still getting everything ready for our sleepover guests, set to arrive at 5, when the doorbell rang at 4:45 we thought they were early. To our surprise, the Papa John's delivery guy was standing there with our pizzas! Danny was mad and wanted to call the store to complain. I'm sure that would have gone over well! "I was told that my pizzas would take an hour in a half, but you guys delivered them in 15 minutes. I demand a refund!" LOL!

ok, so I'm starting in 2009...

I thought that a blog would be a great way to keep a diary of sorts for our families and ourselves. A way for us to look back at 2010 and see all that we had done and accomplished.

Ryan and I were talking the other day about going into a new decade. She said that it was going to be really weird to have a 1 instead of a zero when writing the date. I never thought of it, but since she started school, she has written the date as -05, -06, -07, -08, and -09. It will be weird for her and it made me think of how weird it was for me to write the zero instead of an 8 or a 9. We also talked about what we would call this decade. She said we should call it the tens, and the last one was the ohs. Hmm, I'll have to think about that one...

So since, I'm starting early, here is what we are up to today...

Ryan is sleeping in. She's loving the freedom of Winter Break!

Reese is being a complete stinker and acting like she got no sleep at all last night, even though she went to bed at 7:30.

Rylee has actually cleaned up a room! I know, don't go into shock! They are having friends over for a sleepover tonight and everything must be cleaned up before they can come over.

Danny is working and looking forward to his second 4 day weekend in a row.

I'm still in my pjs, just finished a redneck peppermint mocha (peppermint coffee with a packet of hot chocolate mix). It is supposed to snow again this afternoon. I'm so done with cold weather. We had 'near blizzard' conditions on Christmas eve and all of that hasn't even melted yet and here we go again! I've taken more Celebrex in the past few weeks than I have in a few months. I'm ready for a warm front!
